Keep the Basics Running When the Power Goes Out

When the power goes out, the first things most households miss are cold food, the internet, and light. The EcoFlow DELTA 3 is a battery you keep at home for exactly those days. It's about the size of a small cooler, runs quietly indoors, and has six standard outlets for the things you rely on.

Leave it plugged into the wall and it stays charged and ready. If the power cuts out, it takes over on its own: EcoFlow rates the switchover at under 10 milliseconds, quick enough that most routers and computers keep running without a restart.

What It Can Run, and for How Long

These are estimates for a single full charge. Your appliances will differ; the label on the back or bottom of most devices lists their wattage.

DeviceTypical power useAbout how long
Full-size refrigeratorAbout 1.5kWh a day (it cycles on and off)12 to 14 hours
Internet modem and router20WAbout 40 hours
Four LED lamps40W in totalAbout 20 hours
Laptop60WAbout 14 hours
SmartphoneAbout 15Wh per charge50 or more charges
CPAP machine, no heated humidifier30 to 60WTwo to three nights
Microwave1,000WAbout 50 minutes of use in total

Running several things at once shortens these times. A refrigerator, router, a few lights, and phone charging together would last roughly eight to ten hours.

For a CPAP or any other medical device, check with the device's manufacturer before relying on a power station, and keep a second plan for longer outages.

What it isn't for: heating or central air conditioning. A 1,500W space heater would empty it in about half an hour. For longer outages, plan to recharge it rather than to run large appliances.

Recharging During a Longer Outage

  • From the wall: empty to full in about an hour.
  • From the sun: connect up to 500W of solar panels. On a clear day a 220W panel adds very roughly 600 to 900Wh, depending on the season and how directly it faces the sun.
  • From your car: slowly through the 12V socket, or much faster with EcoFlow's 800W Alternator Charger, which EcoFlow says adds 1kWh in about 1.3 hours of driving.
  • From a generator: including EcoFlow's Smart Generator, for households that already keep fuel on hand.

Room to Grow

If you find you need more capacity, add extra batteries later. The DELTA 3 works with the DELTA 3, DELTA 2, DELTA 2 Max, and DELTA Pro 3 extra batteries, up to 5kWh in total.

Common Questions

Can it run my refrigerator?
Most full-size refrigerators, yes. Its 1,800W output (3,600W surge) covers the brief start-up surge of a typical refrigerator. Expect roughly half a day per full charge; a solar panel or an extra battery extends that.

Can I use it indoors?
Yes. Unlike a gas generator, it produces no exhaust or fumes. Keep it somewhere dry with a little space around it for airflow.

Can I leave it plugged in all the time?
Yes. That is how it works as backup: it stays topped up and takes over when the power cuts out.

How long will the battery last?
EcoFlow rates its LFP battery for 4,000 charge cycles before it drops to 80% of its original capacity, which EcoFlow estimates at about ten years of regular use.

How loud is it?
Very quiet. EcoFlow measures it at about 30dB when supplying under 600W, roughly the level of a whisper, so it won't keep you up at night.
